PressLens
PressLens brings visual PDF inspection to the browser. Prepress teams can examine production files in detail, check color separations and compare different file versions. Page viewing, measurement tools and comparison are available in one interface, with no additional viewer installation at the workstation.
Whether you need to check a spot color separation, verify a distance or find out if a correction has changed other elements, PressLens helps you investigate specific areas and discuss them with your team.
Check color separations and layers
Process colors and spot colors can be displayed individually or in combination. Existing PDF layers can be selected for rendering. For example, you can inspect a spot color separation on its own, then check it again alongside the other colors.
Rendering is based on the Adobe PDF Print Engine. The zoom viewer takes you from the full page to fine details, loading the required image regions at a resolution suited to the magnification.
See what changed between PDF versions
PressLens compares pages within a document as well as pages from different PDFs. You can use it to compare a corrected file with the previous version, for example.
Four views support your review: highlighted differences, a movable comparison slider, a transparent overlay and a blinking switch between the two pages. Differences in page size are indicated in the comparison view. This helps you locate changes and assess them in context.
Inspect ink coverage, distances and areas
Use the ink coverage probe to examine a specific location. PressLens shows percentage values for the selected ink channels and their sum within an adjustable sample area. This supports targeted checks of areas that need closer attention.
Three line measurements and a polygon area measurement are available for checking geometry. Distances can be measured in millimeters, for example, and an optional 90-degree lock helps with horizontal and vertical measurements.
Review annotations and code contents on the PDF
PressLens displays existing PDF annotations and can also include annotations supplied as XFDF files. You can filter the annotation list and view entries at their positions on the page. Correction notes remain connected to the relevant page content.
Detected barcodes and QR codes are listed with their decoded contents. You can copy a value or jump from its list entry to its location on the page. This makes it easier to check code contents against the job requirements.
Share the exact view you are discussing
A view link records the document version, page, selected separations and layers, and the visible image region. Colleagues with access to the PressLens environment can open the same detail. An existing page comparison can also be shared with its selected comparison mode.
This saves you from describing page locations or explaining the separation selection again when discussing a question. The interface is available in German and English.
Connect PressLens to your prepress workflow
PDFs can be ingested through a watched input folder. Browser uploads are also available when enabled in your environment. An API supports integration with existing workflows.
